They are finally here. The robots of 1950s science-fiction movies are no longer fiction. We have the ability to create robots that clean our homes. They can protect our streets. They can even play music for us as we go to sleep. Artificial intelligence and robotics have made tremendous leaps in the past several decades. What's more, we've only just started. Future progress promises to be exponential and without limit. If you have ever considered a career and robotics, now is the time to join.
What is robotics?
Generally speaking, robotics is the study of robots, programming, and engineering. More specifically, it is the application of artificial intelligence for practical purposes. If designed properly, robots can greatly enrich our lives and ease our burden. Imagine never having to mow the lawn again. Imagine never having to worry about whether or not your house was safe the next time you were on vacation. The potential applications are limitless. The real question is, how much do you already know about robotics?
If you are like most people, you probably have a fascination with robots, but very little technical knowledge. But that's okay. Training in this field is much easier than you might have imagined. There are engineering and robotics programs all across the country. Through them, you'll learn the requisite math, physics, and programming necessary for this career. There are countless problems waiting to be solved. Perhaps a robot of your design will help solve one of them.
