Banking

Bankers have an important responsibility to their clients. Managing money is a very detail-oriented process that requires trust, patience, and a good understanding of arithmetic. After all, you are handling other people's money on a daily basis. You want customers to trust you with their finances. That's why getting a degree in banking is important if you are serious about this career. In truth, many bankers only have a high school diploma. However, by completing formal education, you can distinguish yourself and climb the ranks much more quickly.

Your banking education will help you master the basics of finance, accounting, marketing, and economics. In addition, you will learn how to communicate with people effectively. A large portion of your work involves providing loans, creating mortgages, and helping people climb out of debt. As you can imagine, this sometimes requires a great deal of understanding. Banking is more than just money and accounts. You are the face of whatever bank you're representing. You help parents plan for their children's college funds. You help retirees manage their accounts. You help working folks make both ends meet.

The Department of Labor predicts that this occupation will grow more slowly than the national average for other jobs. But this figure includes those who have not completed formal training. With a degree in the appropriate field, you can expect to find a job in banking much more quickly than the average high school graduate. Employers will regard you differently if you can demonstrate a working knowledge of the applicable banking areas.
