Acquisition and contract management leaders define which commodities or services are best for their organization. Whether it's a specific product, manufacturing material, or outsourced service, you?ll be called on to negotiate a price and award contracts to the most-qualified bidder. You'll need to examine inventory stock, recognize appropriate suppliers, and stay atop of their performance. If you're looking to enter the field, or advance in your existing acquisition and contract management role, there are courses at all levels of scholarship within the profession. Beginners can seek a Diploma in Acquisition & Contract Management, while others may go after an AA in Acquisition and Contract Management -- or Business Administration. Further up the scale, colleges and business schools offer a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in banking, supply chain management, and acquisition. If you really want to move into upper echelon of the profession, consider earning an MBA in Supply Chain Management or Contracts and Acquisitions. It's a broad workplace, and you can advance quickly if you're qualified. Expect to find openings in industry, manufacturing, financial institutions, retail, government, and health care. Other professionals work in wholesale, grocery, building materials, aerospace, and machinery firms. |
