Schools in Montana have a lot to offer prospective students outside of a great education. In fact, many of the best aspects of attending one of the schools in Montana can be found outside. While Native Americans were the first inhabitants of the area now known as Montana, the state now enjoys a racially and culturally mixed population. In addition to members of the Crow, Cheyenne, Blackfoot, Assiniboine and Gros Ventres, Kootenai and Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and Kalispel Indian Tribes, Montana also has a population that consists of Europeans, Anglos, Asians, African Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics. Almost 78% of the population is over 18 years of age, split evenly among men and women. Schools in Montana are populated by a cross section of races, cultures, backgrounds and economic foundations. While it might be easy to discount Montana as mostly wilderness, schools in Montana are filled with students who are proud of their sense of community, their close relationship with the environment, and educational opportunities.
